Cadogan Cider and Perry Traditionally made in Awre

Made from traditional cider apples and Perry pears ripened on the banks of the River Severn at Awre - In the Royal Forest of Dean rural England UK

Awre is a small hamlet in Gloucestershire and sleeps on hundreds of years in history of Saxon times and beyond. In olden days many trades were being used just to survive in the village of a farming community - village life was hard and one of the rewards of a hard working day on a farm was Cider! in many cases cider was the only way of payment.  If the farmer produced bad cider then he had no workers to work the farm but the farmer who had good cider had no problems getting the men to work the problem was getting them to go home to the wife after the days work.

In bygone years the Cadogan family have been no exception to these traditions of cider making, back in 1960 when others were ripping their orchards out to make way for more cattle grazing Colin and son Chris were updating and planting new cider apple trees now it’s Chris’s own son also named Chris and his wife Nicola to take the apples and pears and grind and press them into some of the finest farm house Cider and Perry that money can buy.
